School Liaison Resources

Responsibilities:

  • Meets with JA staff to devise a plan on how program will be implemented--start dates (fall or spring semester), teachers and grades involved

  • Works with JA staff to determine who will obtain volunteers and the classrooms desiring JA programs.

  • Coordinate volunteer recruitment and training if using school parent volunteers. 

  • Monitor JA Classes- Inform JA office if classes are not assigned or completed

  • Report any teacher/volunteer problems to JA staff

Volunteer Recruitment Tips

  • Ask past volunteers to return and recruit new volunteers

  • Ask your returning teachers to recruit new teachers

  • Distribute information at school events (i.e. staff meetings, open houses, and parent functions)

  • Use the weekly folders to distribute information and encourage parental involvement

  • Ask teachers to recommend one or two parents from their class that they consider a good candidate for the JA program

  • E-mail volunteer opportunities and any related information

  • School Newsletter, Website, and Marquee

  • Distribute flyers or information at Parent Night at the beginning of the school year

  • Announcements for Volunteer Opportunities

  • PTO/PTA functions

  • School Announcements and Assemblies

  • Bulletin Boards
